Mary Jane Jessica Anya Blau

Mary Jane – Jessica Anya Blau 4 *'s

Firstly, this book was not what I expected both in good and bad ways. The comment on the front “Almost famous meets Daisy Jones & the Six” is not accurate at all it really throws you off. This is a coming of age story about a 14 year old girl growing up in the 1970’s. Mary Jane comes from a family with strict rules and strong beliefs, when she gets a job for a family very different to hers she is opened up to a new world!

I found it to be a very easy read, sometimes I find it hard to picture the scene however, the writer describes every detail perfectly. It’s a very funny and witty novel and for people like me who didn’t experience the 70’s it gives you a little insight into how people lived.

Overall I did really enjoy this book, the only reason I didn’t give it 5*’s is because I am not sure I would read it again. I will however be keeping it on my shelf as the cover is stunning!
